Yifat Shaik

Yifat Shaik is an Associate Professor in Computational Arts at York University and an indie game developer. Her focus centers on creating autobiographical works and systems integrating data and game mechanics into social interaction and political activism. Through her endeavors, she delves into the potent ability of "play" to serve as a tool for dissecting and discussing social structures. As an independent game developer, Yifat primarily focuses on creating satirical autobiographical games that examine specific cultural or political issues and games made in non-traditional game engines. Yifat's work has been exhibited internationally in Indiecade, Qgcon, Boston FIG and more. She has given artists' talks and research presentations in both industry and academic-focused events such as GDC (The Game Developers Conference), Clash of Realities Conference, and SXSW (South by South West) Sydney. Her work and research have received press attention from Boing Boing, The Financial Post, IGN and Paste Magazine.

SK Sabada

SK Sabada is a doctoral student at York University. Their research interests converge at the intersections between death, madness, disability, sexuality, gender and performance studies. Their current research explores the subject of suicide through mad liberationist and queer feminist death studies lenses, examining the ontology of suicide in order to challenge and reorient dominant cultural views of suicide through performance and theory.
